My name is Yasaman and I joined the SDME when I heard that UOW is participating in a competition to make a net- zero energy house. I am so happy to work in the team, mostly with the engineers, to help them with my background knowledge of architecture and Middle Eastern cultures so this is considered in the architectural plans. On the other hand, as a student of Engineering Management at UOW, I found that it would be a great benefit to find a specific way into the building industry to manage all aspects of design and construction stages as an integrated process. Consequently, I applied for Building Information Modelling (BIM) deputy team leader in architectural sector. This is definitely a great chance for me to gain experience, improve, and make a bridge between architecture and engineering management in a friendly and supportive team.
One of the best experiences recently I had, was participating in UnSymposium with the support of UOW. Improving my knowledge by sharing ideas in a group of architects from prominent Australian universities and to compete with other groups with the aim of finding the best solution for a blueprint of Manly Island to make a better place in the future was the first exciting part of this symposium. On the other hand, improvement cannot happen easily unless you keep in touch with expert’s experiences in relevant areas. This symposium opened new windows of sustainability considerations for me.
Finally, as I’m so excited about being part of Team UOW, if you have not joined us yet there is a place specifically for you even if you are not an Engineering and Information Sciences student. Come and join us, we will improve and can celebrate winning the first prize together.
